Peter & Pauline would like to welcome you to The Bull Inn, a traditional, family run, community pub, just a short stroll from the sea. We are proud to offer a proper warm welcome to locals and visitors, alike, in St Leonards.
Here you will find hearty, traditional pub grub served in our recently revamped Spitfire Restaurant (homemade pies are our speciality!!), cracking real ales, a wonderful selection of original Spitfire memorabilia, a great garden, large car park and no shortage of community spirit - with live music/karaoke and quiz nights providing a regular raft of entertainment. We also love to meet your four-legged family members, with a selection of doggie treats awaiting them!!
Of course, on colder, wetter days you might prefer to curl up in front of one of our 2 lovely log burners, with a pint of Shepherd Neame’s finest, and if it’s solitude you fancy, you’re following in famous footsteps. John Keats used to write poetry in the eastern part of the pub, looking out to sea in search of inspiration.
It’s not the only historic tale The Bull has to tell. The pub helped house investigators working on the wreck of ‘The Amsterdam’ which ran aground here in 1748 - and the cellar here used to hold condemned prisoners before their hanging on Galley Hill, just a short away.
Whether you’re a history hunter or just in search of rest and refreshment, we look forward to your visit.
We are proud to share our recognition from Tripadvisor for our consistent high ratings.
